ASHLAND and SHEFFER Cemeteries
 
The HISTORY and DIRECTORIES of
 
Ashland Nebraska Cemetery
entrance located at 26th & Silver Street near the western edge of Ashland
The Ashland Cemetery is the largest cemetery in Saunders County
 
The Ashland Cemetery Directory and Improvement Committee
has largely completed a building on the grounds of the Ashland Cemetery
This building contains beautiful wood and glass cases
with the names and location of each person interred there
Completion is scheduled for Memorial Day of 2011
 

NE winters being what they are, some significant damage

occurred to the wood and glass cases installed last summer

 

A Fund Raiser Steak Dinner
& Silent Auction will be held
Saturday, the 9th of April at the VFW Hall
24th and Silver Streets, Ashland NE

Sheffer Pioneer Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Cass county
and is named for one of the early pioneers, William Sheffer.

Sheffer Pioneer Cemetery is located halfway between Greenwood, Nebraska and Ashland, Nebraska.
From Highway 6, turn north on 226th Street. Cross the railroad tracks and go about one mile to Country Club Road.
The cemetery is located at the end of the minimum maintainance road beyond a private farm residence.
 
The AHS Annual Cemetery Crawl was held October 3rd, 2010

The Ashland Cemetery and The Sheffer Cemetery were visited

and the history of each was told. We wish to acknowledge those

who provided the guided tours and information.
